5-Star rated Animal Activity Licensed with Wigan Council
We are really proud to have gained a 5-star rating at our 1st renewal. A valid animal activity license is essential for any home boarding establishment to ensure it complies with animal welfare laws and regulations. This license guarantees that the establishment meets specific standards in terms of safety, hygiene, care, and handling of animals. It also provides reassurance to dog owners that their dog will be looked after by trained and responsible professionals. Regular inspections by local authorities are conducted to confirm that the facility provides a safe, secure, and enriching environment, minimising risks and maintaining high welfare standards.

Essential Criteria for Boarding with Connie's Canine Care
Before your dog can join us for home boarding, we need to ensure they meet specific requirements to provide the best experience for all dogs in our care:
Size: We accept small breed dogs up to 12kg - This is due mainly because Milo, our own dog, is a small breed and he finds most larger breed dogs overwhelming. We feel that dogs tend to settle better and feel more comfortable when they are around dogs of similar size.
Age: Due to Milo now being a senior dog and less tolerable of energetic, bouncy young dogs, we now only accept dogs who are 3 years or older. Exceptions may be made for dogs under 3 years old, depending on temperament.
Health: Your dog must be up-to-date with vaccinations, including kennel cough, flea treatments, and worming.
Neutering: We only accept dogs who have been neutered. We don't accept dogs who have been chemically castrated.
Temperament: Your dog must be calm, comfortable and well socialised with other dogs.
Trial Sessions: Before we can fully accept your dog into boarding, they must come for trial sessions to ensure they are comfortable and happy being with us. They will be invited for an initial half day session, and all being well, they can have a sleepover.
A Typical Day in Dog Home Boarding
From the moment your dog wakes up until bedtime, their day is filled with enrichment and relaxation:
Morning:
A fun-filled walk through our local nature reserve, Bickershaw Country Park. We focus on giving dogs the mental and physical stimulation they need.
Breakfast is served after their walk, followed by some downtime to rest and digest.
Midday:
Indoor playtime, cuddles, or enrichment activities like puzzle toys or scent games. Dogs who enjoy social time will get to interact with their fellow boarders.
For older or more laid-back dogs, this is a great time for naps and relaxation.
Afternoon:
Another walk or garden time, where your dog can explore and stretch their legs. If it’s rainy, we focus on indoor play to keep them happy.
Snack time and more one-on-one time for belly rubs and cuddles.
Evening:
After a full day, dogs can enjoy their tea, followed by more rest and play. This could be some light interactive games or cosy time in their bed.
Wind down with a final walk before bed, ensuring they are relaxed and settled for a peaceful night’s sleep.
